ST. LOUIS - A tradition like none other is almost here: Opening Day for the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals begin their 2023 season Thursday at Busch Stadium with the home opener against the Toronto Blue Jays. First pitch for the new season is set for 3:10 p.m. Tens of thousands are expected to gather around Downtown St. Louis to celebrate. Upwards of 48,000 lucky fans have a chance to fill up the stadium. Others may enjoy the festivities from Ballpark Village, local sports bars or other destinations around downtown. ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis woman appeared in federal court Monday and admitted to committing bank fraud and pandemic loan fraud in 2021 and 2022.Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri said Nikia French, 30, recruited people on the social media app Instagram to let her use their bank accounts. French would create counterfeit checks, deposit them into said accounts, then withdraw the money before the bank noticed the checks were no good.French ran her scam between February and April 2022. She deposited more than $73,000 in checks, and withdrew more than $34,000 in cash. PHOENIX — The Broncos recently ramped up their survey efforts as they continue through a long process that ultimately will lead to a decision about whether to build a new stadium.The Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group started touring stadiums during the season and is keeping tabs on building projects around the NFL, as well.The survey season-ticket holders received recently included questions about the preferred location of a new stadium, what’s important about the game day experience, how far people are willing to travel, if they’d prefer a permanent roof, retractable roof, canopy or no roof and a raft of other queries. After six years, Comal Heritage Food Incubator is closing up shop in the Taxi mixed-used development in the River North Art District. A little-known part of California's vehicle code gives doctors the legal right to break speeding laws - so long as they are responding to an emergency.Vehicle Code 21058 allows a physician responding to an emergency call to be exempt from some of the laws governing speed limits.According to the California Medical Association, the exemption only applies when traveling to emergencies, when driving on freeways - and does not allow the driver to ignore other traffic rules (such as stop signs or HOV lanes).The doctor exemption also does not allow them to be unsafe on the roads - even when speeding.
