However, 1 in 8 Coloradan kindergarteners are not fully vaccinated against measles today, and our state is overdue for an outbreak.Measles is extremely dangerous.Prior to safe and effective vaccines, measles was responsible for an estimated 48,000 hospitalizations, 1,000 cases of encephalitis (swelling of the brain), and 500 deaths every year in the United States.Measles is also highly infectious. After a contagious person leaves a room, the measles virus can float in the air and infect others for up to 2 hours.According to reports, the teenager who contracted measles spent significant time at DIA during a busy holiday travel season and visited several...

Instead, the 49ers fans pulled the alarm bells for this week’s mailbag via social-media alerts:Can Purdy win the Superbowl? (@erveliz)First, the 49ers have to get there. Actually, first, a reminder that it’s actually called the Super Bowl (two words) and this season’s is the 58th edition (LVIII in Roman numerals). Can Brock Purdy win it? Yes, but not by himself, nor does he need to do so. The 49ers are still the NFC’s favorite. If the Ravens meet them in Las Vegas on Feb. 11, Purdy shouldn’t throw them the ball anymore. Are we still the No. 1 seed? (@d3_2famous)The 49ers (11-4) are still positioned atop the NFC’s playoff race with two weeks to go, by virtue of tiebreaker edges over the Detroit Lions (11-4) and the Philadelphia Eagles (11-4). In terms of the Lions, the 49ers’ conference re...
